Join Allison Dennis for a deeper look into the epic story, The Bhagavad Gita. We’ll tease apart the meaning of a variety of verses with attention on dharma, karma, equanimity, and skill in action. Hopefully we can come into some newfound understanding of how to engage in our busy lives with a greater sense of purpose and flexibility, and shed some confusion about the ways in which we’re being called to step into our multifaceted lives. This is a text about living in the world and doing our best without beating ourselves up.
The Bhagavad Gita is just one chapter from a much longer epic Sanskrit poem called the Mahabharata. The chapter begins on a battlefield at the moment that a long brewing war is finally set to begin, and is a conversation in stopped time between God and a despondent warrior who must fight the fight.
Allison’s favorite translation is Winthrop Sargeant’s which you can readily find on Amazon. Bring a translation with you if you’d like to follow along.
